Living It Up!

I was recently reminded of my years as a nurse and caregiver during college and throughout early adulthood. Working in long term care facilities and homes and the perspective it gave me on life was invaluable. The process of building relationships with people in the last stages of life, often knowing they would end soon, but also knowing I was probably the only person they would have a heartfelt conversation with that day made my work, although sometimes arduous, very fulfilling.

As I thought of this, it reminded me that we can take total possession of our experience and while we have the time together, we can create whatever we want. I started thinking we should obsess about the memories we make, connecting our hearts and souls in deeper ways and soak up all the moments together.

If this year has shown us anything, it has shown us that we possess so much power in the Now, and that the Now is all we really have. We get to CHOOSE to leave a legacy of beautiful memories.

We have overcome so much, independently and together, and we will overcome much more! Today is another day to claim our power and create the memories we want for tomorrow.

So, if you haven’t yet, go out there and get all the goodness that’s available to you! Be a blessing to someone, give some extra hugs, allow that person to go ahead of you in line, or share a smile with that person that looks like they need one. Give gratitude for the beauty of creation and the gift of laughter. Hold someone’s hand that you haven’t in a while and whistle while you work.

I don’t know about you, but I think I’m ready for more of the joys of life and less of the striving. We have this time, this moment, and we can make it as meaningful as we choose to. I say, “Let’s live it up!”!
